The ball is designed to be light weight and small so it can be carried around without appearing cumbersome. It is made of silicon. With its soft touch, it is comfortable to hold, which is use-friendly by both right handed and left handed. In designing the Glowing Bubble, issue such as the level of technology the elderly were comfortable with were considered. By using soft curved forms, it aims to reduce their fear of technology. The illuminance is designed to be fade on and off to avoid visual discomfort. Airswitch technology has been incorporated to allow the elderly to use the product more easily and intuitively. With the Glowing Bubble, there is no more fumbling around for light switches, as overhead light turns on automatically once the ball is placed onto the base. The users can control the brightness via a mere wave of the hand. It also helps to light the path between the bedroom and bathroom to prevent the risk of falls and injuries. It gives a soft ambient glow to prevent any visual discomfort caused. If the resident finds the overhead light too glaring, the ball has been designed to allow the user to place it on the table. The product is a combination of both the hard polycarbonate (base) with a soft silicon (ball), thus giving the appearance of a soft feeling. The robustness of the material will ensure a longer lifespan. All parts should be recycled. |
