Product Description and Principal Function(s)

To re-use the clean water that would normally be wasted down the drain or to grey-water when the tap is running and no washing or use is in progress.
Construction: Melamine thermoset injection molded casing, polycarbonate poppet valve with PU seal that has a simple assembly process managed with-in seconds using a snap fit anchor on the valve foot. The valve may be retro-fitted to existing basins and has varied basin applications from the bathroom vanity to the kitchen. The poppet valve opens when its spring return pressure is over come by the downwards fluid force of the water.

Why does the product represent design excellence and why do you believe it deserves an Australian Design Award?

A simple design that full-fills its purpose with minimal enviromental impact and maximum efficiency. The water re-use valve transcends simplicity and
makes use of all water that is flowing to the basin. If the water is not used for cleaning or other purposes at the basin then it is diverted for reuse.
The Ava basin design development was inspired by the cut form of an avacado.
The concave bowl can be detached and a traditional basin is available if so desired.
The valve is also adaptive to a dual kitchen sinks as it sits between each sink on the divider. Hospitals will benefit greatly from reduced water wastage at thier wash basins.
